What UULE is for
Local search results differ by city. UULE is one way researchers hint a location to Google Search via the URL. It is a research aid, not a GPS spoof. Logged-in personalization, device, and mobile vs desktop layouts still move the SERP. Use this for spot-checks; use Search Console and a rank tracker for history across many locations.
How GenShelf encodes and decodes UULE
Canonical-name UULE values look like w+CAIQICI + one length character + base64 of the place name. The length character is taken from a 64-character alphabet (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, hyphen, underscore) at the index equal to the name’s character length. Names as long as that alphabet cannot be encoded here and return nothing.
Encoding uses UTF-8 then btoa in the browser. Decode strips an optional uule= prefix, accepts URL-encoded w%2B, then base64-decodes the payload. If decode fails, you likely pasted a coordinate-style UULE (different prefix) or a truncated string. This tool does not generate coordinate UULE.
Presets, gl, and hl
City presets are geotarget-style strings such as Chicago,Illinois,United States and London,England,United Kingdom. After you generate a value, decode it once as a sanity check. Then pair the search URL with a matching Google domain (google.com, google.co.uk, google.com.ph, and others in the list), gl, and hl. Change one of those at a time when results look wrong.
